Conservation Ecology

My research has always focused on conservation ecology.  Over the last twenty years I have studied the ecology of species at risk, rare ecosystems and the tools that can be used to help in their conservation.  Modeling of species distribution, habitat, population ecology and community structure are a few of the areas I have focused.
Although I have studied many species from turtles to beetles, one of my main areas of study has been lichens. In particular, I have investigated lichen species at risk, helping to identify and designate at risk species in Nova Scotia and Canada.
